About Me
I believe in a client-led, collaborative approach when working with clients to uncover their strengths, recognize themselves as capable, and achieve their counselling goals.
I am firmly grounded in a culturally responsive, socially just approach to counselling and believe that establishing a trusting therapeutic relationship with clients is the key to successful therapy.
I believe that clients are the experts of their lives and I take the time to learn and understand each person’s unique story and experiences. I draw from a strengths-based approach to therapy, incorporating narrative, solutions-focused, cognitive-behavioural techniques, and EMDR therapy based on each client’s unique needs.
I am deeply humbled to walk alongside my clients in their healing journey and am in awe of their strength to seek support and to take action towards positive change.
My Professional Background
Qualifications
I am a Registered Psychologist in the province of Alberta. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Master of Counselling degree.
Prior to focusing on my career as a therapist, I worked as a psychological assistant and cognitive/behavioural intervention specialist. However, my desire to advocate for children, youth, parents, and families began over ten years ago in my role as education assistant, supporting students with special needs. I have an extensive music background and often have connected with younger clients through play and music therapy techniques.
